Life Cycle Analysis Challenges through Building Rating Schemes within the European Framework

چکیده
The decarbonisation of buildings is a crucial milestone if European cities mean to reach their mitigation targets. construction sector was responsible for 38% the GHG emissions in 2020. From these emissions, 11% calculated be currently embodied building materials. In this context, an evaluation from life cycle perspective becoming increasingly necessary achieve objectives set. Currently, there are different rating systems (BRS) at level that allow degree sustainability buildings. During study, authors have evaluated what extent and how most extended five BRS (NF Habitat HQE, VERDE, DGNB, BREEAM, HPI systems) framework integrated methodology during process. Four methodologies been used research order analyse systems: quantitative assessment, multi-level perspective, mapping–gap analysis, expert interviews. Although each has produced results, need harmonise criteria level, insufficient consistency data software, availability skilled LCA professionals wider market penetration, among others, should highlighted. quality harmonised products required give aggregated transformative results.

Can rating agencies look through the cycle?
Rating agencies claim to look through the cycle when assigning corporate credit ratings, which entails that they are able to separate trend components of default risk from transitory ones. To test whether agencies possess this competence, I take market-based estimates of one-year default probabilities of corporate bond issuers and estimate their long-run trend using the Hodrick-Prescott filter,...
متن کاملAn Anatomy of Rating through the Cycle
Using an asset-based model of default, I derive rating characteristics if ratings are meant to look ‘through the cycle’ as opposed to being based on the borrowers’ current condition. The through-the-cycle method, which is employed by most rating agencies, requires a separation of permanent and cyclical components of default risk. In a time series setting, this can be done through the Kalman fil...
متن کاملDetermination of Optimum Insulation Thickness for Building Walls in Iran Using Life Cycle Cost Analysis
Air-Conditioning (AC) systems are responsible for a considerable portion of the energy consumption in buildings located in high cooling load requiring regions of Iran. In addition, the heat flow through the buildingschr('39') external walls plays a major role in cooling load estimations for the countrychr('39')s hot regions. Therefore, application of insulation materials in external walls has g...
متن کاملThe "ecologue" Approach to Computational Building Life Cycle Analysis
Construction and operation of buildings is internationally a major cause of resource depletion and environmental pollution. Computational performance evaluation tools could support the decision making process in the area of environmentally responsive building design and play an important role in environmental impact assessment, especially when a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach is used. LCA...
متن کاملChallenges in harmonising controls on the radioactivity of building materials within the European Union.
Possibilities for harmonising controls on the radioactivity of building materials within the European Union are being discussed in a Working Party on Natural Radiation Sources established by the Article 31 Group of Experts (Euratom Treaty). The Working Party is preparing a document to aid the Article 31 Expert Group and the European Commission in considering possible recommendations and technic...
